3.51 with Scott tonight! We went at a much quicker pace than we usually do and I at least thought it was easier than usual. I know Scott was having some discomfort since he ate right before we ran, but he wanted to keep going so we did! I think it was much easier tonight because it wasn't quite so hot out. We had some rain throughout the night which I think really cooled it down a bit.

Today was our last short run of the week so that means this weekend is our long run of 5 miles. I know that with my best friend by my side and the Lord as my rock I can get through even the most seemingly impossible things in life :)

See you at the finish in a few short months!

Today was supposed to be a cross training or short run day, so I ran 2 miles in between all of my craziness that was going on today. Running can be so relaxing when you have a lot going on. I also increased my speed on the short run today, so I ended up making it in less than a ten minute mile!

I feel so blessed because God has put so many wonderful people in my life to encourage me. Not only is my boyfriend running in this race with me, but one of my best friends from home is running in it as well as at least 6 other friends from Chapel Hill :) Also, my friend Diane who ran with me yesterday now wants to run in it too! I feel so encouraged all the time, and whenever I start to get down on myself about not making my mileage on a certain day I feel like God is right there with someone else to lift me up.

See you at the finish!

Yesterday was a WONDERFUL run with my friend Diane. She actually ran a half marathon in March so she has been such an inspiration for me with doing my own half marathon. I was discouraged yesterday because we were supposed to run 5 miles but this heat lately has been KILLER. I was sick a lot last week and only got to run one day, so I think that kind of threw me off too. I'm just persevering and resting in the assurance of God's great power and love right now as I move through this journey.

I am so incredibly blessed

I have been so bad about updating! I'm about to do three in a row, but I did 4.2 last week with Scott and it was great!

2.0 + 2.0 = 4.0?

yesterday was another day where I walked half and ran half the distance... It's so hard when you are by yourself going uphill the whole time! Maybe I'll pick an easier path today..

2.5 + 1.0 = 3.5?

So this post is regarding my run/walk on Friday. I decided to go on a morning run in Wilmington while home for my sister's graduation. I have never done a morning run before (or at least, not in my training for this half marathon), but I thought as long as I went early it would be fine. I woke up at 6:50 and quickly got dressed to run. I went at the same pace I always do, but with the sun already out, I quickly found myself exhausted and unable to continue running. I made it 2.5 miles running and had to walk the remaining 1 mile, but I'm hoping that this week I'll still be able to up my mileage to 4 miles.

For some reason I thought running in Wilmington would be easier since it's flatter than CH, but I think returning to running at night will be helpful. Some day I must get used to running in daylight, as that is what I will be doing the day of the race, but for now I remain convinced that running at night is good for the soul :) Also, in November, it will be MUCH cooler out than right now, so maybe running in the morning will be easier!

Until then, I continue to rely on the strength of the One who gave it all in selfless love.

See you at the finish.

Another solid 3.5 today! Guess that means it's time to up the ante next week :) I love that God teaches me incredible lessons through my running experiences. Today I learned the value of a companion. Yesterday was my first time ever running with someone (my boyfriend, Scott). Today I was definitely dragging and coming up with every excuse for why I was going so slow. He was constantly positive and encouraging, and it made me realize that God uses people in our lives to lift us up when we can't do it on our own. Today, I have a feeling that I would have just quit after 2 miles or so; with the encouragement and companionship of someone I love, it was easier to make it to then end.

I'm so excited for what God has in store for the next 21 weeks of training!

See you at the finish.

Today was a great day! I hadn't run in over a week because of moving into my new townhouse.. but I mad it to 3.5 miles today with my wonderful boyfriend. I think he is training for the same half marathon, and we're both living in Chapel Hill for the summer (living in the same town for the first time in 4 years... WEIRD!) so I think we'll be training together a lot!

I'm so thankful for a good run today and know that none of this would be possible without our loving Father

See you at the finish
